Florida Governor's Points of Light Award
Mr. Mike Burns representing Florida Governor Charlie Christ presents award to Chief George White Antelope Dodge, Sr.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide support for First Nation's Citizens, living in destitute conditions on reservations, in the form of medical supplies, clothing, blankets, shoes and appliances. The Cheyenne Sisters Mission, consisting of Amber and Ashley Wolfchief-Hartwell, their mom and dad, Julie and Kirk, brother Eli and aunt Joani, delivered 18,000 pounds of clothing, household supplies and appliances to the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribal Territory, (original home of two daughters in this family) in Oklahoma. Howard Sheppard Trucking donated the use of an 18 wheeler for this shipment. Driver Ben Rowland and his wife Patricia safely delivered this load. A tag-a-long trailer containing school supplies contributed by local Pensacola residents and from Florossa Elementary School in Ft Walton Beach, FL was delivered by Robert and Billie Nicholson, as representatives of First Nations Intertribal Association. We delivered 12 washing machines and four dryers to the most needy in the tribe. In addition, clothing and other household items were distributed to over four hundred families. While there, Ashley and Amber were reunited with their younger brother, whom they had never met along with many other relatives. A great aunt who had cared for the sisters after a family tragedy, said: " I have often wondered what happened to them and did not know until today." She also thanked their parents for keeping the girls safe and for bringing them back to the tribe. Read the details of our adventure on the blog:GotStoneSoup.
